Jess and I attended a screening of the Invisible Children's newest documentary, The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers. If you are like me then you have heard very little about the war in Central Africa and the devastation that it has caused to millions of people. The LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) lead by Joseph Kony kidnaps children and forces them into soldiers in his army, witnessing horrific things and forced to do them. The movie Blood Diamond shows this child army and was previously my only knowledge of the subject.
The fight between the LRA and the Ugandan government is now the longest running war in Africa (23 yrs) and they are no closer to finding peace. An organization called the Invisible Children, founded by 3 guys right out of college and my age, is fighting to change that. The film is very emotional and opened my eyes to the problems outside in the world. Just thought I would spread the word :)
